OUR OTHER ACTIVITIES

As a chapter, we strive to provide high-quality programming and networking opportunities to our members. We also work hard to give back to our local communities by serving as a resource of information and a skilled volunteer labor force. Below is a listing of the events, activities, and other efforts that we are very proud to participate in and coordinate.

GET ORGANIZED MONTH

Each year, January is nationally recognized as “Get Organized Month” or “GO Month”. Across the country organizers plan special presentations and events to raise awareness and educate the public about the benefits of being organized. Here in Michigan, because the winter weather is unpredictable and our members often have to travel significant distances, we postpone our GO Month activities and hold them later in the spring when we can be sure that snowy, icy roads won’t be a factor. Examples of our GO Month activities from the past few years include a promotional event at IKEA to build awareness of our industry, collecting shoes for Soles4Souls, and volunteering our organizing services at Kadima, Food Gatherers, Habitat for Humanity Detroit, the Boys and Girls Club of Troy, and other charities.

HOARDING RESOURCES

Our chapter recognizes the challenges and struggles hoarding disorder presents to individuals, their families/friends and to the community.  Chapter organizers volunteer their time to Taskforces throughout Michigan to assist in the work with persons who struggle with hoarding.  Additionally, there are chapter members who specialize in working with those who struggle with chronic disorganization, such as hoarding.   These members receive additional training through the Institute for Challenging Disorganization, www.challengingdisorganization.org.  You can visit the ICD website to learn more. If you know someone who is in need and ready for help, please contact info@napomichigan.com for more information on hoarding Taskforces and chapter members.  Also visit our RESOURCES page to find a listing of statewide resources for hoarding.

INDIVIDUAL MEMBER EVENTS

As a benefit of membership, we allow our members to post their own business' events on the chapter’s schedule of events; you'll see them indicated with the label INDIVIDUAL MEMBER EVENT.

Disclaimer:  Events offered by our chapter members and their businesses do not imply endorsement of the program or presentation by NAPO or NAPO Michigan. NAPO and NAPO Michigan are not liable for the performance of any member or corporate associate member.
